Common weight loss worries.

Monday, December 8th, 2008

There are so many people who are overweight and want to seriously reduce those extra pounds. But their busy work life doesnt allow them to give time for exercise or visiting a health club. This is when such people have questions which are very common; but answering them is difficult. So given below are the two common questions and their simple answers which can be easily applied in your day to day life to get positive results in losing weight.

1. Why do doctors always recommend a slow rate of weight loss? What’s wrong with losing it fast, if you can?

When it comes to weight loss, slow and steady wins the race. Fast weight loss is usually followed shortly by rapid weight gain. Besides, 1 pound of fat contains 3,500 calories, so you need to burn 500 more calories than you eat each day to lose just 1 pound a week (500 calories x 7 days). If you’re losing more than 1 to 2 pounds a week, it’s either water weight or lean tissue you’re losing, not fat. Weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week may seem like an agonizingly slow pace, but if improving your health is a long-term goal, the speed of your weight loss isn’t important.

2. Weight-loss exercise: How do I fit it into my day? I’m trying to lose weight by eating less and exercising more, but I often don’t have time to do all at once.

Decide the total amount of time, you can devote (per day) for exercise. Say if you decide 60 minutes, but cant do it in a single stretch. It doesn’t matter whether you divide your workout into two 30-minute sessions, four 15-minute sessions or six 10-minute sessions. You will get similar results no matter how you accumulate your 60 minutes. The same holds true for the cardiovascular benefit of exercise. This is good news! Take the stairs, rake leaves, walk during your lunch break. It all adds up!

Nine equals Eight principle!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

This principle is neither coined by any famous scientist nor is it rocket science. Its pretty simple and worked wonders for the Tampa Bay.

It was Joe Maddon who devised this principle, simple put as - “9 = 8″; and took this as the theme for the 2008 season. The meaning of this slogan that Maddon relayed to his team was this; 9 players playing hard for 9 innings would be enough to gain one of the 8 playoff berths by the end of the regular season. This principle has so far worked successfully for the team. And the most important thing that he concentrated upon while implementing his theme was- fitness of the players.

Speed, defense and pitching are now the new axioms for baseball and with the game getting cleanesed up so much of the pollution (steroids), Maddon made sure that he took the right steps to reduce his overweight players by giving them only the best diet pills.

With so many diet pills available in the market, Maddon preferred to play safe with pills like Liptovox and Patentrim. And he is seeing the positive results as his players feel more energetic now and can concentrate for longer hours, thereby benefiting the entire team to play well and please their fans.
